A Course Area is a general classification that groups courses into subject areas when they are accredited or registered by the board. The Course Area for each course is specified in the course document and on the adoption form for the course. When a college adopts a course the Course Area applies to all students studying that course. Courses are classified into Course Areas to support the BSSS' requirements for breadth of study for the award of the Senior Secondary Certificate and Tertiary Entrance Statement.
