Years 11 and 12

The ACT Senior Secondary System caters for students in Years 11 and 12, generally aged between 16 and 19 years. In the ACT, all Government colleges and most non-Government colleges follow the ACT curriculum. Several overseas schools also offer the ACT Senior Secondary System.

In the ACT there are eight Government colleges and thirteen non-Government colleges offering the ACT curriculum. The Government colleges cater specifically for Years 11 and 12. Canberra Institute of Technology also offers the ACT Year 12 Certificate and Tertiary Entrance Statement.

Australian Capital Territory senior secondary education follows a system of externally-moderated school-based assessment.  Students are awarded grades in all units that they study and scores and grades in T units.  The basis for grading a student's achievements in the course are the criteria and standards specified in the relevant Course Framework. Grades that are awarded in A, T and M units are verified by the moderation process. The score awarded in a T unit represents a ranking of students within that unit.
